10 Verses About God’s Sovereignty In Our Lives

October 15, 2024

Ten verses about God’s character and sovereignty in our lives.

The word “Sovereignty” means “supreme power or authority,” so when we say “God is sovereign over our lives,” we affirm that He is the only One who can govern us—tell us what is good, how to act, who to forgive, when to move.

In declaring God is sovereign, we surrender all rights and autonomy to Him.

It sounds scary to do so ONLY when we forget that

God is sovereign, and He is superior.

“I know that the Lord is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.” —Psalm 135:5, NIV

God is sovereign, and He is loving.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” —Romans 8:39, ESV

God is sovereign, and He is trustworthy.

“For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.” —Proverbs 3:26, ESV

God is sovereign, and He is protecting.

“You are my hiding place; You keep me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.” —Psalm 32:7, NASB

God is sovereign, and He is victorious.

“These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” —John 16:33, NASB

God is sovereign, and He is reliable.

“So my word that comes from my mouth will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do.” —Isaiah 55:11, CSB

God is sovereign, and He is good.

“You are good and do good; teach me your statutes.” —Psalm 119:68, ESV

God is sovereign, and He is wise.

“Don’t let your heart envy sinners; instead, always fear the Lord. For then you will have a future, and your hope will not be dashed.” —Proverbs 23:17-18, CSB

God is sovereign, and He is powerful.

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will leave this life. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” —Job 1:21, CSB

God is sovereign, and He is eternal.

“For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.” —Romans 11:36, CSB

It’s counterintuitive to experience more freedom when we abandon our “rights” to God, but who else has the resume and character to compete with His?

Our response is to surrender, worship, and tell others of the joy and peace found in God’s sovereignty.

And today… I want to use it all of that to help women like you live more intentionally—with art that tells the truth, studies that deepen your faith, and creative tools that turn your ideas into impact.

What happens when you combine graphic design, fine art, marketing, and a love of theology?

A business that's both beautiful and biblically rooted—made for the woman who loves the “meat” of God's Word.
